QuoteLink groups data available from different data providers and makes it available in a consistent way to different applications. This is achieved using a common framework.
Other applications notably Microsoft Excel connect to this framework to present the data to user.

Depending on the data provider the adapter can use direct connections to external servers or connect to other applications running on the client machine (for instance TWS interactive brokers).
